Prawns 🍤 Kunji Pathal(kaka rotti)
1.For Rice dumplings
Rice powder(fine)-1 cup
Salt-1/2 tsp
Coconut oil-2 tsp
Boiling water as required
In a big vessel add in all the ingredients except water.Add hot water and mix together .
2.Coconut grated-1/2 cup
Fennel seeds-a pinch
Cumin seeds-1/4 tsp
Shallots-4
Pulse together coconut,cumin,fennel & shallots together till just crushed.Add in to the rice dough and mix In to form a smooth dough.Cover and set aside for 10 minutes.
Grease your palm with oil and take a small
portion of dough make balls ,roll it into
rounds and just press in the middle (refer
the photo).Then steam the kunji pathal for 10-15 minutes. Once it is done transfer in a plate and let it cool.
3.Mustard seeds-3/4 tsp
Onion-2
Ginger—1 “ piece
Garlic-4 big
Green chillies-4-5
Coconut oil-2 tbsps
Curry leaves-2 sprigs
Heat oil and sauté curry leaves and onions chopped.Add in the crushed ginger,garlic and green chillies and sauté onions are lightly browned.
4.Turmeric-1/2 tsp
Chilli powder-1 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder-3/4 tsp
Coriander powder-1 1/2 tsp
Tomato-1 big
Salt-3/4 tsp
Water-1/4-1/2 cup
Add in the masalas and sauté.Add the chopped tomato and salt ,water and cook till tomato is blended and oil separates.
5.Coconut grated-6 tbsps
Turmeric-1/4 tsp
Shallots-5-6
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds-1/4 tsp
Grind all the above ingredients to get a smooth paste,adding some water.Set this aside.
6.Prawns-1/2 kg
Tamarind-1/2 lime size
Pepper powder-1/2 -3/4 tsp
Garam Masala-1 tsp
Soak the tamarind in water.
Now add in the cleaned prawns and
ground coconut mixture & Garam masala,stir well,when it
starts to boil add in the tamarind water , pepper powder and kunji pathal into it.
Cook until the curry becomes little thick,with some gravy and pathiri is well coated.Adjust salt and sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.Prawns Kunji Pathal is ready to serve.
