Peas Masala

For the masala paste

1.Dry Red chilies-5

Whole Coriander-1 tbsp

Onion-1

Ginger-1/2” piece

Garlic-3 big (Chinese ones)

Curry leaves-a sprig

Coconut grated-1/2-3/4 cup(Adjust according to your likings)

Oil-1 tsp

Heat oil and fry the whole chilies and coriander for a minute.Then add the sliced garlic,ginger,onions and curry leaves and sauté.Once this starts to brown add the grated coconut and fry till browned.Remove and allow it to cool.Once cooled grind this to a paste adding enough water.

Tomato-2

Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

Carrot-1

Potato-1

Green Peas-1 1/4 cup (I used frozen peas)

Oil-2 tbsps

Salt to taste

Garammasala-1/2 tsp

Coriander leaves for decorating

Heat oil and sauté the curry leaves and chopped onion and green chilies.Once it’s glossy add the chopped tomato and turmeric and sauté till tomatoes are mushy.Now add the potato and carrot cut into small pieces.Add 1/2 cup water and salt and cover and cook till done.

Add the Green Peas along with the ground masala paste and 1/2 cup water to this.cover and cook till it’s cooked through. If this gravy is already thickened add some more water and the Garammasala and bring it it boil.Adjust salt.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.Peas Masala is ready to Serve with some Chappathis or Parathas.
