Oats Paalappam

1.Rolled Oats/Instant Oats-2 cups

If you are using rolled oats slightly Roast the Oats in low heat till a nice aroma comes .Set aside to cool.

(In case of instant oats you can directly ground them with other ingredients).

2.Yeast-1/2 tsp

Lukewarm water-1/2 cup

Sugar -3-4 tbsps

Mix together the above ingredients and allow it to rise.

3.Roasted rice flour-1/2 cup

Grated coconut-3/4 cup

Salt to taste

Water as required

In a blender grind together the coconut & oats adding enough water.Now add the rice flour,salt and the risen yeast mixture and enough water to make the Appam batter.(l used almost 2 1/2 cups water for the batter)

Pour the batter into a bowl & allow to ferment for 8 hours or overnight. In the morning you can make Oats Paalappams by pouring a ladle of batter to the hot Appam chatti and rotating the chatti in a circular motion to get the Appam.Cover with a lid and cook till it releases from the sides of the pan and the center is cooked through.Serve hot with Stew or Piralan of your choice.
