Thoran-4
This method u can do with red choura(Vanpayar),Mudira (horse gram),Chakkakuru (jackfruit seeds) ,Thorans.
Vanpayar Thoran
1.Red Choura (Vanpayar)-3/4 cup
Soak this in enough water for 4 hrs or overnight .
Pressure cook this for a whistle with enough water & without adding salt .
Adding salt while cooking lentils hardens it & takes more time to cook.
2.mustard seed-1 tsp
Oil-1 tbsp
Splutter mustard in hot oil.
3.onion-1
Garlic-5-6
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Chop the above ingredients and add to the above & Saute for a minute or two.
4.chilli powder-1 1/2 tsp
Scrapped coconut-1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Add chilli powder & Saute. Add some water from the cooked Vanpayar to this & cook till oil seperates.now add the coconut scrapped to this & the cooked Vanpayar & any left over water.Cook till all the water dries up.
Note::
1. If u r making Mudhira Thoran,no need to soak in water.just add enough water which is a little above the lentils and pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles.
2.When you make Chakkakuru Thoran,you can cook the seeds after soaking them as a whole with 1/4 cup water and salt for a whistle.and then cut the cooked seeds into desired slices.This way it's easy to cut the seeds (than without cooking)
