Jackfruit/Chakka Appam
1.Jackfruit/Chakkapazham-15-20 pieces
Coconut grated-1 cup
Sugar-1/2 cup
Chop the chakka and add the sugar and grated coconut and cook for few minutes until chakka is cooked and sugar is well coated.Chakka mixture is ready.Set this aside to cool.
2.Rice powder(Puttu podi)-1 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Water as required
In a big bowl put the rice powder and salt and add water little by little to this ,as you do for making Puttu .(It should resemble like bread crumbs.)Keep this aside for 10 minutes.
3.Milk-1/2 cup
Cardamom-4 (crushed)
Sugar-2-3 tbsps
Water as required
Ghee for greasing
Now add 3/4 th cup cooled chakka mixture,cardamom and milk and mix it with your hands.Add enough water to this (resembling idli batter) and mix in.Adjust sugar and salt.
Grease one big/2 small steel plates with ghee.Pour this batter and steam for 10-12 minutes or until a knife inserted at the center comes out clean.Remove and let it cool.Cut Jackfruit/Chakka Appam into pieces and serve.
