Dates Halwa

1.Dates(pitted )-300 gm(2 cups)

Boiling water-1 cup (250 ml)

Put the dates in a steel vessel and add boiling water to this and let it soak for 20-30 minutes covering with a lid.

2.Ghee-1/4 cup

Cashews-8-10

Granulated Sugar-1/2 cup

Corn flour-2-3 tbsps

Water-1/2 cup

Cardamom -3-4 crushed

Heat 2 tbsps of ghee and fry the cashews broken till golden and set aside.Now add the soaked dates mixture to this and cook till all the water dries up.

Add the sugar and continue to cook adding the ghee in intervals so that it doesn’t burn.Now add the corn flour dissolved in water to this and continue to cook on medium heat till the mixture thickens.

Now add the crushed cardamom powder and the set aside fried cashews and stir in.Cook till the mixture thickens and comes together .Off the stove and transfer the Halwa to a greased plate.Smoothen the top of the Halwa with the back of a spoon.Allow this to cool for 3 hours and cut it into desired shapes.Dates Halwa is ready .

Note:U can add more sugar ,or jaggery instead of sugar,if you want or even make it without adding sugar-to make it healthy. If you’re skipping the sugar,add a tbsp more of corn flour to make the Halwa thick.
