Chakka (Varattiyathu)Balls/Halwa
1.Jackfruit (ripe)-3 kg
Pressure cook this with 1/2 cup water for 2 whistles.
2.jaggery-1/2 kg
Melt jaggery by adding 1/2 cup water to it.sieve the mixture .
In a nonstick pan/ urali,pour the cooked jackfruit along with water left in the cooker.boil this till all the water dries up & the mixture looks soggy.now add the melted & sieved jaggery to this & cook on medium heat often stirring sothat it doesn't burn.
3.Ghee as reqd
cardamom powder-2 tsp
Once all water dries up,add 1 tbsp ghee/dalda & cook.once ghee is absorbed & the mixture doesn't turn smoothly,add another spoon ghee & Cardamom powder.cook till it becomes almost hard/starts to burn.remove from fire & pour on a greased steel plate.smoothen with a greased spoon.cut into squares,once cooled.or make balls & serve.
