Banyard Millets Vellayappams/Palappams


Banyard Millets Palappams Recipe (with Banyard millets flour)

1.Raw Rice/Basmati /idli rice-1cup

Coconut (scraped)-1/2 cup

Sugar-2 tbsp

Salt to taste

Soak the rice for4-6 hrs.Grind the above ingredients together with enough water.add

2.Cooked rice/Aval-1/2 cup

Banyard Millets flour -1/2 cup

Yeast-1/2 tsp

And grind again with enough water so that the batter is of pouring consistency.Set aside in a vessel to rise.after 4-6 hrs the batter will rise. Note:If you are not making the palappams Immediately you can keep the batter in the refrigerator so that it doesn’t overflow the containers.. and when required make the Appams

For makingBanyard Millets Palappams

Heat an appachatty & pour 1 1/2 ladle of batter to it & make a circular motion with the pan.Cover & cook on medium flame till Palappam is done.

To make Banyard Millets Vellayappams,heat a Tava and pour a ladle of batter into the tava and cover and cook until done. Open and flip it and cook for a few seconds and remove them to a plate.Banyard Millets Vellayappams is ready.U can make 2-3 Vellayappams at a time,if your Tava is big.

Serve with Vegetable or non veg stew or Piralan of your choice.

Or sprinkle some sugar over the Appam and pour some hot milk or coconut milk and eat it. This is one of my favorite combos
