Unakkameen(Dried Fish) Chammanthi
1.Dry fish-100 gm(1 medium big fish)
Coconut oil-2 tbsps
Soak the fish in water for half an hour to remove the excess salt from it.Remove the fish and pat dry with tissues.Fry the fish in oil till golden and crispy.Remove and set aside.
2.Shallots-8-10
Dry Red Chillies-10-12
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Coconut grated-1/2 cup
Chilly powder-1/4-1/2 tsp(adjust according to your spice levels)
Remove all except 1 tbsp of oil from the pan and add all the above ingredients except the chilli powder and sauté on low heat till coconut is lightly browned and curry leaves are crispy.Add in the set aside fried fish cut into small pieces and sauté for a few seconds more and remove.
Once the mixture has cooled a little bit,pulse this mixture in the mixie in 2 batches by adding the chilli powder.Unakkameen Chammanthi is ready to serve with some hot rice or Puttu .
