Have you soaked the dry fruits in rum for the Plum /Christmas Cakes .......another batch of dry fruits ready for soaking @ Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Soaking the Dry Fruits
I used
1.Black Raisins-2 cup
Kismis-1/2 cup
Prunes-1/2 cup
Dates-1 cup
Figs & Apricots-1/2 cup
Tutti Frutti-1/2 cup
Dried Cherry -1/2 cup
Dried Cranberries-1/2 cup
Candied Peels-1/4 cup
Chop all the dry fruits into small pieces and put them into a glass jar.
2.Rum/Brandy-2-3 cups(as required)
Pour 2 cups rum /brandy (if you don’t want alcohol just use some wine instead or you can use half rum and half alcohol too) to this.Close the glass jar and shake the jar so that all the dry fruits absorb the rum/wine.
Store this in the cupboard in a dark place.Shake this bottle/jar every 3 days for 2 weeks so that all the fruits get soaked. If the rum is all absorbed by the dry fruits after one or two weeks then add some more rum/brandy/wine and close it and store. This can be stored out for a year or two .
Note :use these soaked fruits as required for your bakes and store the remaining in the jars.
