Red Velvet Cake-3(with oil & butter)

Red Velvet Cake

1.All purpose flour-1 1/3 cup (180 gm)

Cocoa powder-1 tbsp

Baking soda-1/2 tsp

Salt-a pinch

Sieve together and set aside.

2.Unsalted Butter-60 gm

Granulated Sugar -3/4 cup (150 gm)

Oil-1/2 cup

Egg-1

Vanilla Essence-1 tsp

Beat the room temperature butter and sugar till creamy.Add the oil gradually beating in.Add the egg & vanilla and beat till pale and fluffy.

3.Buttermilk-1/2 cup

(Or substitute by milk-1/2 cup + vinegar-2 tsp)

Red food color-1 tbsp

White Vinegar-1/2 tsp

Mix together the red color and buttermilk.

Add in the flour mixture in 2 batches and the milk mixture in between.and fold in with a spatula.Add the vinegar and fold in.

Transfer the batter to a greased and lined 7” round cake tin.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 25-35 minutes or until the skewers inserted at the center comes out clean.Mine was ready in 33 minutes.
