Potato & Peas Masala
1.Coconut Oil-1 1/2 tbsps
Mustard Seeds-1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds-1/4 tsp
Onion-1 medium
Ginger-1/4” piece
Garlic-2-3
Green Chillies-2
Curry Leaves-1 sprig
Heat oil and splutter the mustard and then the fenugreek seeds.Add the chopped ginger,garlic,onion,green chillies & curry leaves and sauté till onions are glossy.
2.Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Chilli powder-3/4 tsp
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Sambar powder-2 tbsps
Add all the above masalas and sauté on low heat.Add 1/4 cup water and cook till oil separates.
3.Tomato-1 small
Potato-2 medium
Green Peas-1/2 cup( I used frozen peas)
Salt to taste
Water-1 1/2 cup
Add the chopped tomato,potato cubes ,water and salt and cover and cook till the potatoes are cooked through.Add the green peas and continue to cook until done.Mash some of the potatoes with the back of a spoon so that the gravy thickens a bit.Add more water if required,as the gravy thickens once cooled.Adjust salt.
Decorate with chopped coriander leaves.This curry goes well with poori and Chapathis.
