ThrissurIan’s Meen Palupizhinjathu with raw mango
1.Fish-8-10 pieces
Raw mango-1(big slices)
Coconut mil pwdr-4tbsp dissolved in 1 cup water/fresh coconut milk extracted
Chilli pwdr-1tsp
Turmeric pwdr -1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
2.shallots-6-7(sliced)
Ginger-1big piece
Green chilli-3-4
Curry leaves-2 sprig
Coconut oil-2 tbsp
Chop the ginger & chillies.
Heat oil in a chatti.fry half of the shallots sliced.when it's almost brown add the curry leaves & fry.when it's brown remove & set this aside.
In the same oil,add the remaining shallots,ginger & green chillies &saute.
Reduce heat & add the turmeric & chilli pwdrs.saute & add 2-3 tbsp water sothat it doesn't burn.when oil seperates ,add the raw mangoes & salt &1/2 cup water/second milk of coconut.cover the chatti & when it starts to boil add the fish pieces & cover & cook.after 2 minutes turn the fish pieces &cook.
Now add the first milk of coconut /coconut milk pwdr dissolved in water to this & stir often sothat the milk doesn't curdle .when it's heated through(not allow to boil if it's fresh coconut milk),turn off the heat & add the fried shallots & curry leaves.ur Meen Palupizhinjathu is ready to serve with steaming rice.
