Easy Meat Pies
For the Chicken/Beef filling
1.Beef/Chicken mince-250 gm
2.onions-2
Ginger-1 " piece
Garlic-4-5 big
Green chillies-10-12
Curry leaves-2 sprigs
Chop all the above ingredients.Saute in 2 tbsp oil.
3.turmeric-1/4 tsp
Pepper powder-2 tsp
Garamasala-1 tsp
Add to the above & Saute.
4.carrot-1(minced/ chopped)
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves-1/4 cup
Potato-1 big (cooked and mashed)
add minced beef & salt & cook till done. Add the carrots & cook.Now Add the mashed potato and chopped coriander leaves and cook till dry. This is the filling.set this aside to cool.
For the dough
5.All purpose flour-1 1/2 cup
Salt-1/2 tsp
Oil -2 tsp
Instant/Dry yeast-1/2 tsp
Lukewarm milk-1/2 cup
Sugar-1 tsp
In a glass pour the lukewarm milk and add the sugar and yeast.Set this aside for the yeast to forth.
In a bowl put the floor,salt and oil.Add the risen yeast mixture to this and mix.Add extra hot water if needed to make a smooth dough. Knead for 5 minutes.Divide the dough into two equal parts.Roll each of them into thin discs .
Oil an 8" round tin and place one rolled disc in it and shape it so that the sides of the tin is covered.Now put half of the filling above the base .You can use the remaining filling to make another pie another day.
5.egg-1
Onion-1 small
Beat the egg lightly with a fork and drizzle this over the filling,reserving some for egg wash.Chop the onion and evenly Sprinkle on top.
Now place the second rolled disc carefully over this,covering the filling.With a fork seal the edges.
With a knife,make marks dividing the pie into 8 equal parts.Don't cut through.Apply egg wash and Sprinkle some white sesame seeds over it.Cover and set aside to rise for 40 -60 minutes.
Once risen bake this in a preheated oven at 180 C until the top is golden .Mine took exactly 14 minutes .This varies from oven to oven.
