Marble Cake
1.all purpose flour-225 gm
Baking Soda-1 tsp
Baking pwdr-1/2 tsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Sieve together 3 times & set aside.
2.unsalted butter-225 gm
Sugar-225 gm(pwdr this)
Cream together with a beater till fluffy.(if u r using salted butter,no need to add the salt mentioned above)
3.eggs-3
Vanilla essence-1 1/2 tsp
Add one by one & beat.(if it starts to curdle just add 2-3 tbsp sieved flour mixture .usually the cake mixture curdles if ur ingredients are not at room temperature .)add the essence also in between.
4.milk-1/2 cup
Cold water-1 cup
Add the flour mixture & the milk & cold water in batches
till the flour & milk all used up.if u feel the batter is thick, u can add 2 tbsp cold water & beat in.
Now divide the batter into 2 almost equal parts.
5.cocoa pwdr-3 tbsp
To one part add the cocoa sieved sothat no lumps r formed in the batter .
Now pour 2 big spoons of plain batter in the middle of the baking tray-lined with butter paper.now pour 2 big spoons of the cocoa batter over this.Again plain batter over this & then cocoa batter & so on till both the batter is fully used up.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 40- 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes our clean.mine took exactly 45 minutes.this may vary with different kind of ovens & baking dish.
