Green Peas/Matar Idli (yields 17-18)
1.Green Peas-1 cup(used frozen ones)
Green Chillies-4-5
Ginger-1/2” piece
Grind this together to a smooth paste,by adding 1/4 cup water mentioned in the below ingredients.
2.Semolina-1 cup
Curd-3/4 cup
Water-1/2 cup
Salt to taste
In a bowl mix together the semolina,curd and salt.Add in the ground green Peas paste to this and mix in.Add in the remaining water and stir in.Set this aside for 10-15 minutes for the semolina to absorb the liquids.
3.Coconut oil-2 tsp
Mustard seeds-3/4 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Eno fruit salt-1 tsp (or baking soda-1/2 tsp)
Meanwhile heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds and then add the urad dal and fry till golden.Off the stove and add in the curry leaves.Once the leaves are crispy add this mixture along with the oil to the set aside green peas rava mixture and stir in.If the mixture is too thick add in 1 tbsp water and stir in.
Place the steamer with water onto the stove and grease the idli moulds with oil.Now add the Eno salt/Baking soda and stir in.Pour this mixture onto the greased moulds and steam immediately for 10-12 minutes or until a knife inserted at the center comes out clean. Green Peas Rava Idli is ready to serve with some Sambar and Chutney.
