Homemade Fish & Chips with Tartar Sauce

Fish and Chips Recipe .....

Batter Fried Fish with Airfried Potato Wedges

1.Fish Fillets-500 gm

Pepper powder-1 tsp

Salt to taste

Lime juice-1/2 lime

Cut the fish fillets as desired (6-7 long pieces).Pat Dry the fish with tissues and apply salt,pepper,& lime juice.Set aside for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

2.For the batter

All purpose flour-1 cup

Corn flour -2-3 tbsps

Baking powder-3/4 tsp

Salt-1/2 tsp

Pepper/Chilli powder-1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder-a pinch (optional)

Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl .Now remove 1/4 cup flour from this on to a plate.This flour is used to dust the fish.

3.Egg -1

Water as required

Add the egg to the bowl and mix in.Now add the water as required to make a somewhat thick batter.( The consistency should be like....when you dip your finger in the batter, it should coat easily on it).

Keep this batter in the refrigerator for half an hour.

After 30 minutes,Heat oil in a Kadai.Dust a fish piece on the flour mixture in the plate and then dip it in the batter and gently drop this fish fillet into the hot oil.Reduce the flame to medium and fry it.Turn the sides often till evenly browned.

Remove the fried fish and drain on tissues.Repeat this with the remaining fish fillets. The Batter Fried Fish is ready.

Note: U can replace 2 tbsps of all purpose flour with 2 tbsps of rice powder to make it crispy.

4.For the Chips

Potatoes-4-5

Slice the potato into wedges or 1” thickness and immerse it in water for 20 minutes.Drain.

Bring to boil some water in a pan by adding salt.Put the sliced potatoes in it and bring it to boil.Let it simmer for 2 minutes.Drain and pat dry with kitchen towels.

Now deep fry this in hot oil till browned or bake it in the oven by adding some Chilli powder,oil,salt and pepper at 200 C for 20 minutes or until done.

Homemade Fish & Chips is ready to Serve

Tartar Sauce

5.Mayonnaise-1/2 cup

Chilli powder-1/4 tsp

Pepper powder-1/2 tsp

Lime juice-1 tsp

Mustard Sauce-1 tsp

Tabasco Sauce-1 tsp

Thai Chilli Sauce/Peri Peri Sauce-1 tsp

Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl and add salt if required.Tartar Sauce is ready.
