Egg Pie

Egg Pie 🥧 🥧

For the first layer

1. Tomato-2 big /3 medium

Salt-1/2 tsp

Cut the tomatoes into chunks and cook this by adding 1/4 cup of water and salt till mushy.Set aside to cool and once cooled grind this to a paste.

2.Butter/Oil-2 tbsps

Garlic-4-5 big

Onion-2 big

Capsicum-1

Green Chillies-3-4

Chilli flakes-1 tsp

Chilli powder-3/4-1 tsp (adjust according to your spice level)

Heat oil and sauté the garlic till lightly browned.Add the chopped onions and sauté till lightly browned.Add the chopped capsicum and green chillies and sauté.Now add the chilli flakes and chilli powder and sauté till oil separates.Add the ground tomato paste and cook till the mixture thickens.Adjust seasonings.Set this aside to cool.

For the second layer

3.Boiled Eggs-5-6 large

Slice the boiled eggs .

For the third layer-white sauce

4.Butter-3 tbsps

All purpose flour-3 tbsps

Milk-3 cups

Mustard sauce-1 tbsp

Pepper powder-1/2-3/4 tsp

Oregano-2 tsp

Salt to taste

In another pan sauté the flour in butter till nice aroma comes.Add the milk 1/2 cup at a time and cook so that it doesn’t become a lump.

Add mustard, pepper, salt and oregano and cook till it boils and the white sauce thickens a bit.Set this aside to cool a bit.

5, Bread Slices -3-4

Butter-1 1/2 tbsps

Mozzarella cheese-1 cup

Bread crumbs-1/2 cup

Assembling the Pie

In a glass/pie dish apply butter.Spread half of the onion tomato gravy in the pie dish as the first layer .

Now place half of the boiled eggs sliced over it as the second layer.

Pour half of the white sauce over it and spread evenly as the third layer.Now place the cut bread slices over this as the fourth layer.Sprinkle 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese over the bread slices .

Repeat all the three layers- onion tomato gravy,sliced eggs and white sauce.Spread an even layer of bread crumbs over this and Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese 🧀 over it.

Bake this in a preheated oven at 200 C for 25-30 minutes till the cheese melted and lightly browned.This time may vary from oven to oven and the dishes/pans you use.The Egg pie is ready.

Slice it after allowing it to cool a bit .
