Chicken Puttu


ChIcken Puttu

(Yields-5 Charatta puttu)

For the Chicken filling

1.any left over chicken-5-6 pieces

Remove the bones and tear it .

2.onion-1

Ginger garlic crushed-2 tsp

Salt to taste

Tomato-1 or (use 2 tbsps tomato sauce)

Saute the sliced onions in oil.once it's glossy add crushed ginger and garlic and saute.add chopped tomatoes to this & salt.

3.turmeric-1/4 tsp

Chilli powder-3/4 tsp

Corriander powder-3/4 tsp

Pepper powder-1/2 tsp

Garamasala-1/2 tsp

Once the tomato blends,add the masalas & saute in medium heat for a minute. Add 2 tbsps water to this & cook till the masalas r well cooked and oil seperates .

Now add the teared chicken & 1/4 cup water and cook till masalas coats well with the chicken and all the water dries up. Adjust seasonings.Add some chopped Corriander leaves & stir in.Set this aside to cool.You can make the fillings a day ahead and refrigerate.

For the Puttu

4.Rice flour—1 cup

Oats flour-1/2 cup

Salt to taste

Water as required

In a bowl mix all the above ingredients Add enough water and rub in to make a bread crumbs like mixture.Set this aside for 15 minutes.Pulse this in the mixie.

5.Coconut grated-1/2 cup

Put a tbsp of grated coconut on the puttu maker and fill in with the Puttu mixture half way.Now full in with 4-5 tbsps of Chicken fillings and then top with coconut grated.Steam this till nice aroma of cooked puttu comes. I used my Charatta puttu maker today to make this Chicken puttu.
