Beef Pepper Fry


Beef Pepper Fry Recipe

1.Beef-1 kg

Coconut slices-1/2 cup

Chilli powder-2 tsp

Coriander Powder-1 tbsp

Turmeric powder-1 tsp

Salt to taste

Vinegar-1 1/2 tbsp

Marinate the beef with all the above ingredients for half an hour and then pressure cook this till Beef is cooked through.

2.For the meat masala

Whole Coriander-1 tbsp

Whole Pepper Corns-1 tbsp

Dry Red Chilies-5

Fennel seeds-1 tsp

Cardamom-5-6

Cloves-6-7

Cinnamon-1” piece

Star Anise/Takkolam-1

Javitri/Mace-1/4 of a flower

Dry Roast all the above ingredients in a pan and powder it.This is the meat masala.Set this aside.

3.Onion-1 medium

Shallots-4-5

Ginger-1” piece

Garlic-5-6 big ones

Curry leaves-2-3 sprigs

Green chilies-5(slitted)

Coconut oil-3-4 tbsps (as required)

Heat 2 tbsps of coconut oil in a nonstick pan and sauté the curry leaves and then the chopped onion and shallots.Once onions are glossy add the crushed garlic & ginger and sauté till this starts to brown.

Now Open the pressure cooker and transfer the cooked beef,coconut slices and the stock (water leftover from the cooked beef) to the pan.When this comes to boil add the set aside meat masala and cook till the gravy thickens.

Check for spice level. If you want it more spicy add a tsp of freshly ground pepper powder and continue to fry by adding coconut oil a tbsp at a time when the beef sticks to the pan.Fry this till the Beef is well browned.Beef Pepper Fry is ready to Serve.
