Idli Recipe
For Idli batter
1.Raw Rice-1/2 cup
Urad dal-1/4 cup
Fenugreek seeds-1/4 tsp
Soak the rice for 5-6 hours. In another bowl soak the urad dal & fenugreek seeds for 2 hours.
2.Cooked rice-1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Grind the urad dal and fenugreek mixture to a smooth paste adding some of the soaked water in a mixie.Remove it into a bowl.
Now grind the soaked raw rice by adding water to a smooth paste .Add the cooked rice & salt and grind till u get a smooth batter.Remove and add to the above dal batter and mix.Set this aside to ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight.
The next day take the steamer and pour some water and let this come to boil.
Meanwhile lightly oil the Idli plates/thattu and pour a ladle of the fermented batter into each hole and place this into the steamer and steam till it’s cooked through.Idli is ready to serve with some Chutney or Sambar.
